Most skylight leaks come from one shortcut. Someone drops the new unit into the hole, seals around the outside, and calls it finished. Within a year, water's finding its way in.
On a recent job, we did it the way it should be done. We wrapped a waterproof barrier all the way around and up the sides of the skylight, tucked it properly into the surrounding shingles, and sealed it so water has nowhere to sneak in. It stays dry through every freeze and thaw, no drafts, no drips.
We treat eavestrough the same way. We run it seamless with a 5" or 6" K-style profile, cut to length right there on your driveway, so there are no joints along the run to leak or pull apart over time. Fewer seams, fewer problems, water going where it's supposed to.
